R U Anxious 2

15 years ago, the world seemed much safer. Armed guards were not in our airports, churches, homes, work places or schools. But feelings of vulnerability go far beyond the physical realm.

PRINCIPLE #1 – We often become anxious  – our thoughts and emotions run rampant – just because we THINK we are not in control. But should we be? In control, that is. A favorite childhood song comes to mind: He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands. Now don’t get hung up on the male gender pronoun and miss the message:  we were not created to be in control.  There is a higher power available 24/7 to aid and assist, to guide and guard when we remember first to seek the kingdom of God – that safe place within you – a place of peace, serenity, harmony and fulfillment.

Beyond the realm of feelings and emotions is the need to recognize that you have a divinely granted Free Will. You have the ability and freedom to choose what you eat, drink, breath and more importantly how you live.

These principles and many more are shared in my small group workshops that may help you Learn How 2 Live Anxious Less. The specific focus for the workshop at the Discovery Center – 5160 Peavine Road in Fairfield Glade, TN from 10 AM to Noon (CDT)  Saturday November 12 is Learning 2 Live Anxious Less B 4 the Holidays. Remember, this is a small group workshop. Space is limited. So register today by phone/text 931-250-3390 or email ClintinaHealthCoach@gmail.com. The fee is $15. PRINCIPLE #2 – Like many persons, you may have covered your true self on Halloween and consumed candy loaded with sugar, food coloring and that deadly high fructose corn syrup. Without realizing it or may you do know the consumption of sugar is more addictive than illegal drugs.  If you don’t detox immediately you will be on a downhill slide that will barrel through not only Thanksgiving, but the December holidays, and cause you to crash land in Spring time. No amount of New Year’s resolutions will save you. Instead you must decide, be determined and just do it NOW – detox from sugar cold turkey.

What you consume – especially sugar – is one of the prime reasons why we become plagued by anxious feelings. Motown vocalists may sing I Can’t Help Myself but it is more accurate to believe Yes You Can Can.

Exercise not only your physical body but also your Free Will to eliminate sugar from your life – sweet kisses are exempted. To learn more about a fast and effective way, search the website for Dr. Fuhrman’s 3-Day Sugar Detox http://www.doctoroz.com/print/57563

In this fast paced 24/7 world is it possible to live anxious less? The answer is “yes”.  This post gives three of many principles that I practice. Watch my website for more later.  I hope they will also help you Learn 2 Live Anxious Less.

First:   I rise & shine daily by simply realizing that I have a Divine Creator who is my Higher Power. As a child I learned this song: He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands. Maybe you remember it too. I simply ignore the reference to a male gender because I recognize that my Higher Power – My God –  is the Spirit of Love that has no gender at all.  My Higher Power is omniscient – knows all things; omnipresence – is everywhere in all things; and is omnipotent – has power over all. This childhood song helps me embrace humility. Having an attitude of humility enables me to just Let Go of whatever issue, situation or person that I think is making me feel anxious. Believe me this is not easy. It takes daily practice.

Second: I have learned – with practice – to develop an attitude of gratitude. When I begin to feel anxious, I stop. Then I inhale to the point where my chest and my belly expand and then slowly but forcefully exhale at least 7 times. This inhale and exhale exercise calms me sufficiently to allow my mind to Count My Blessings. Scripture tells us to be not anxious but to be thankful in every situation. Sometimes when I feel anxious it is extremely difficult to ask myself: How Can I Honestly Be Thankful? Believe me in every situation there is an opportunity to be thankful. Take time daily to write down even the smallest event for which you were thankful. Almost everyone has some gadget at hand that allows you to record. Periodically pull out that gadget or notebook and read it. These memories will give you strength when you need it to Be Thankful.

Third: Most of us have heard about singing in the shower, right? Believe me singing – no matter where you are – works. I have also heard choir directors tell their members and congregations that singing is like praying twice. Most days when it is time for me to face the world, I still hear a song learned at camp: Rise and Shine and Give God the Glory. It’s sung repeatedly like Row Row Row Your Boat. On days when you only want to pull the covers back over your head and bury your face in your pillow just muster the energy to sing. Ignore the temptation to sing Nobody Knows the Troubles I’ve Seen. Believe me, God knows and will give you what you need to face the day. Rise, Shine & Give God Glory.

These principles are shared to help you Learn 2 Live Anxious Less. To understand the difference between being anxious and a medically diagnosed anxiety disorder, refer to The American Association of Anxiety and Depression.
